Counselling Therapy Education:
I have completed my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University and I am a Registered Counselling Therapist Candidate with the Nova Scotia College of Counselling Therapists. I have completed my bachelor’s degree in medicine and sciences (M.B.B.S) with a focus of training in mental health counselling and therapy services. I have previously worked in teaching hospital and educational settings and has an experience in working with diverse group of clients.

With many years of working experience, I strongly believe that a good beginning almost assures success. I am committed to build trusted therapeutic alliance that helps client in identifying themselves in a supportive environment and enhances their personal growth.
I provide counselling and therapy services to teens, adults, and older aged population. I will welcome indigenous people as well as people from different ethnic or racial background. I also speak Urdu/Hindi language and will welcome people who prefer services in Urdu/ Hindi language. I offer both in-person and telehealth (online) sessions.
I specialize in anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma recovery to the clients who are survivors of past / current abuse, those who are struggling in their relationships, work, school or finding their identity. I offer holistic and integrative approach to treatment where I utilize techniques from various modalities. I provide specialized treatment, known as Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) for various mental health problems. I am basic trained in EMDR and currently engaged in training to become an EMDR certified therapist. I also offer Ego State Therapy to complex-trauma clients.
I am a therapist with a strong focus on perinatal mental health, multicultural counselling, and the unique challenges related to immigration and the sense of belonging. My educational journey began with a bachelor’s degree in psychology, followed by a Clinical Psychology degree from the University of Salvador in Bahia, Brazil. I furthered my expertise with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. Additionally, I have been trained in grief and bereavement, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) intervention strategies, crisis intervention, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).
My professional journey has been diverse, encompassing roles that have allowed me to work with individuals across various age groups and backgrounds. Using evidence-based therapeutic techniques, I have supported special needs students in educational settings and offered mental health counselling to police officers and firefighters, focusing on addiction and domestic violence. These roles have deepened my understanding of the complexities of mental health and the importance of tailored empathetic care.
In my practice, I employ a humanistic approach, emphasizing empathy, respect, and everyone’s unique experiences. My work is guided by the belief that every person deserves to feel understood and supported, especially during life transitions such as becoming a parent or moving to a new country. I strive to create a safe and nurturing environment where clients can explore their feelings, build resilience, and foster a sense of belonging.
